Chad and I stayed at the Simply Divine bed in breakfast in Dunn for our 11th wedding anniversary. It is a new B&B and we were the 44th guests to stay. It is lovely. We arrived around 6pm and were shown to our bedroom, the Jade Room. We enjoyed a beautiful candlelit dinner for two in the dining room. Dinner was served on fine china with pretty silver chargers. It was perfect. We were served a fresh organic green salad, sweet potatoes grilled outside, and baked chicken. For dessert there was yummy pound cake with pecan crumbled topping served with ice cream and fresh strawberries. (We found out later that the hosts purchase all their food at the local farmer's market, so everything was fresh, locally purchased, even the eggs for breakfast). After dinner we went for a swim in the pool, just the two of us. We came back in and changed into pajamas and took our sparkling cider, wine glasses, chocolates, and a deck of cards out to the porch and played cards until it got a little too breezy.
In the morning we chose to eat breakfast out on the patio. (We want a patio like this one)! We enjoyed our french toast made from homemade bread and our omelet made with feta, parsley, and dill. The B&B owners are very friendly, unobtrusive hosts. They were very willing to serve and be as present or absent as we wished.
Chad and I want to go back again next year. It was wonderful and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick and romantic weekend. (Or 17 hours in our case). (Warning: The website is a little cheesy). www.simplydivinebedandbreakfast.com
