Milk and Bookies 2011

My friend, Ashley, let me help out with Milk and Bookies again this year!  Our family had a wonderful time.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Milk and Bookies Organization, its simple goal is to give children a chance to serve other children.

First, children selected a book to donate to a child in need.

Next, they purchased the book. (Notice anyone familiar in this pic?  Yes, Nana came and helped)!

Then, they wrote a note to place inside the book.

They climbed up and placed their book in the donation bucket and rang the bell.

And of course, they got to enjoy milk and cookies.

Ariel, Officer Bill, ballerinas, a cheerleader, a vet, and a pirate all came and volunteered to read stories to our young guests.  Molly's favorite were the ballerinas.

Aunt Rachel drove down from school to help out!

The Children's Museum was gracious enough to allow us to host our event there this year.  We collected over 100 books that Saturday morning and received profits from the Scholastic Book Sale that allowed us to purchase even more books!  The books we collected were donated to Brenner's Children's Hospital.
