Cub Scout Camp 2014

We are staying in a corporate apartment this summer while we search for our new home.  Which means I am looking for anything and everything fun we can do OUTSIDE.  I signed up Andrew and Ryan for Cub Scout Camp in Charlotte, and then signed up to volunteer all week long myself.  Molly even got to go to a camp for younger siblings called "Me-Too" camp.  We had a fabulous time!  It was a beautiful place to spend the week.

I was assigned to be Andrew's Den leader.  I had 13 boys ages 9-11 all week long.   Andrew got to canoe a boat, repel, zip line, climb the tower, and play GaGa Ball for the first time.  He was fearless.  He also got to fish, go swimming, do crafts, lead the flag ceremony, and perform a skit.   I loved seeing him try all of the new experiences camp had to offer and to see him make new friends.

I really missed being with Ryan and Molly.  Since they were in their own groups, I rarely got to see them or take many pictures.  Here are a few I was able to capture.   Ryan wanted to make goofy faces every time I pulled out my phone to snap a picture.

I managed to get one picture of myself...shooting a gun for the first time in my life.  A BB gun.  I was pretty bad.  I did not hit the target even once.  I did much better at archery, but I don't have a picture of that.

We all look forward to lots more adventures at the Apache Camp for many summers to come.

Last Day of School Fun

Thursday we celebrated our last day of school at Arts Based with a super fun field day.  I was in charge of the obstacle course, so the only pics I got were from when the boys came by my station.

Andrew loves his teacher and is sad to be leaving Arts Based.

Ryan's classroom assistant made this awesome pullstring pinata!  The kids loved it!

We celebrated Doughnut day with the Westbrooks on Friday.

And Andrew got to go to his best school friend, Cranford's, birthday party on Saturday.  What a fun weekend! These three boys are such great friends!

Andrew Earns His Bear

I video taped Andrew receiving his Bear at the May Pack Meeting, so that Chad could see, but I did manage to get one picture.  I am so proud of him and his hard work.  He finished his Bear at the end of March, after only 3 months as a Bear.  He is a very goal-oriented guy who thrives on checklists, challenges, and rewards.  Scouting is a great program for him.

Strawberry Picking

Molly and I went with some friends to pick strawberries one morning a couple of weeks ago at our favorite patch.  It is so picturesque and the strawberries are amazing.  I had hoped to freeze some for Chad, but sadly for him, the 4 of us ate the entire two buckets in less then 24 hours.  I guess we will have to go back again!
